Mercedes-Benz fashion week opens with a BANG!
If Australian Fashion had superheros, then Luke Sales & Anna Plunkett are fashion Avengers. Their newest collection is only just cooling from its supersonic reveal at pier2 this morning. We are awestruck.Valiant models with fiery locks and statement eyes set the narrative of a graphic novel. The collection was a blur of technicolour and hypnotic prints.
Each piece was boldly onomatopoeic in its own right. BOOM! POW! KA-BLAMO! Even the black and white pieces scream at the front rowers. These new prints are our kryptonite! They are a happy marriage pop art and comic couture. Graduating polka dots arranged with space scenery and faces of familiar comic strips play up the amusing theme. Even an alien form of floral takes centre stage. Our personal favourite was a Hulk-esk shirt dress complete with its very own muscles!
As always, the dynamic duo show extreme attention to detail. Their beadwork is Intricate and the use of sequins has blown us away. While the intermittent use of metallics is perfection. With these young designers powerful imagery is always a given, and their offering this season is certainly something to “Marvel” at. We love this collection and can’t wait to snag a piece of our own!
